X-CAN V2 Gain Settings

A few people have asked how to adjust the gain on the V2. Some people with low impedance headphones have found that the volume gets loud way too fast (some report "loud" at the 10 o' clock position on the dial) so, if you're experiencing this then it's time to lower the gain a bit.

Standard gain is around 8, this is derived from 1 + 220K / 27K = 8.18

The resistors that control the gain are R108 and R107 on one channel and R208 and R207 on the other. To make this simple you will only have to change R107 and R207 to adjust the gain.

So R108 is 220K and R107 is 27K giving us a standard gain of 8 (1 + 220 / 27 = 8.18 Gain)

Replacing R107 with a 47K resistor will give you a gain of 4.7 (1 + 220 / 47 = 4.7 Gain) much better than a gain of 8.7 if you are finding the amp gets loud too quickly.

So, to make it simple here are a few values you can fit into R107 & R207 to adjust the gain:

27K = 8.18 (standard gain)

33K = 6.96 Gain

40K = 5.52 Gain

47K = 4.7 Gain

50K = 4.42 Gain

So on and so forth, just try a few different values until you find one that suits. 47K is a good value to start with and you may find it's "perfect" ;-)
