Easy X-PSU
| Further to my previous versions of the X-PSU clone I have come up with this relatively easy to construct 2 part version which can be built in a few hours. The only pretty tricky part is cutting out the holes for the IEC socket and switch but armed with a bit of patience, a hacksaw blade, a small drill bit and a file you should manage it ok :-) This version incorporates the Nuvotem Talema encapsulated toroidal which gives better insulation over the standard "open" toroidal. The case can be substituted with a shielded type to reduce RFI but I find the standard ABS case and encapsulated toroid to be excellent and noise free. I've included a few diagrams to make construction easy to follow, have fun :-) | |||

Connect everything as shown: Attach toroidal onto baseplate using an M5 nut and bolt. Twist together the yellow and red secondaries and twist together the black and orange secondaries. solder the ends (add heatshrink if you want) Terminate the neutral primary with a female spade plug. Attach two cable tie holders to the inside (inner top) of the case. Fit fuseholder onto one of the holders and secure with cable tie. Fit 5amp connector strip onto the other holder and secure with cable tie. Connect IEC Neutral and live to the switch and then live to fuse and fuse to live primary. Connect neutral primary to switch. Connect secondaries to connector strip and connect the DC adaptor cable to the other side of the connector strip. |
